MORIR ESTANDO VIVOS

Hay una parábola muy antigua acerca de un comerciante procedente de la India que fue a Africa para adquirir productos y animales de la zona, mientras estaba en la selva contempló miles de hermosas cotorras multicolores. Capturó una y la llevó a su país.

Una vez en casa la puso en una jaula. La alimentaba, le ponía música y en general la trataba bastante bien. Al cabo de dos años el hombre tuvo que regresar a Africa, le preguntó a la cotorra si deseaba darle algún mensaje para sus amigos de la selva. El ave le dijo que les contara que era muy feliz en su jaula y que les enviaba todo su amor. 

Cuando el comerciante regresó al Africa transmitió el mensaje a las cotorras de la selva. Cuando acabó de hablar, una de ellas cayó al suelo muerta. El hombre se alarmó y pensó que aquella cotorra debía de haber sido una buena amiga de la que él tenía en casa y que aquella había sido la razón de su tristeza y muerte.

Cuando el comerciante volvió a la India le contó a la cotorra lo sucedido. Esta se desplomó, sobre el suelo de la jaula. El hombre estaba aturdido, pero pensó que su cotorra también había muerto de tristeza al enterarse de la muerte de su amiga de la selva.

Abrió la jaula, y echó el ave al basurero que había junto a la casa. Enseguida, la cotorra voló hacia la rama de un árbol. El hombre le dijo: “¿Con que no estas muerta, eh? ¿Por qué has hecho esto?”. La cotorra respondió: Porque el ave de la selva me envió un mensaje muy importante”. “¿Que mensaje?” le preguntó. “Me dijo que si quería escaparme de su jaula, tenia que morir estando viva”.

Amigo, todos debemos morir estando vivos, si queremos escapar de la jaula de pensamientos negativos, de momentos depresivos, de sentimientos de culpa, derrota y otros, de los cuales muchas veces estamos atrapados. Debemos hoy comenzar a morir a estas cosas y podremos escapar de sus consecuencias, porque ¡Hoy es tu mejor día y mañana será mucho mejor!

DEAD WHILE ALIVE

There is a very old parable of an Indian businessman who went to Africa to procure local artifacts and animals. While in the jungle, he saw many beautiful, multi-colored parrots, so he captured one to take back with him.

Once home, he put the parrot in a cage, fed it, played music for it and treated it generally very well.  After two years, the man needed to return to Africa, so he asked the parrot if he would like to send a message to his friends in the forest.  The parrot said to tell them he was very happy in his cage and that he sent them all his love.

The businessman returned to Africa and relayed the parrot’s message to his friends in the jungle.  On hearing the man’s message, one parrot fell to the ground dead.  The man became frightened as he thought that this particular parrot must have been a very good friend of the one he had at home and that the parrot’s sadness over the loss of his friend had caused his death.

On returning to India, the businessman told his parrot about the visit with his friends and everything that had happened.  His parrot immediately collapsed and fell to the floor of his cage.  The man was bewildered but he thought that his parrot, too, had died of sadness upon learning of the death of his friend in the jungle.

So, the man opened the cage, took the parrot out and threw it in the trash  next to his house.  The parrot immediately flew to a branch of a tree!  The man cried, “Oh, so you’re really not dead!  Why have you done this to me?”  The parrot responded, “Because my friend in the jungle sent me an important message.”  “And what was that message?” the man asked.  The bird replied, “He said that if I wanted to escape from my cage, I had to die while alive!”

Friend, we all should “die while alive” is we wish to escape from the prison of negative thinking, depressing moments or feelings of guilt and defeat in which we find ourselves trapped many times.  Let us begin to die today to these things so we can escape their consequences.  Remember, today is the first day of the rest of your life and tomorrow will be even better!!

¡COMO TU LO QUIERAS AMIGO!

Una antigua leyenda cuenta de un viejo sabio ermitaño que vivía en una cabaña en lo alto de la montaña. Tenía la reputación de saber la respuesta a cualquier pregunta que se le hiciera. Un día, dos alocados muchachos decidieron hacerle una jugarreta al anciano. Le haría una pregunta que no pudiera responder.

Cazaron un gorrión, irían a la cabaña del anciano y con las manos a la espalda, le preguntarían: “¿Qué tenemos en las manos?”, si adivinaba que era un pájaro, le dirían: “¿Qué clase de pájaro?”, si adivinaba que era un gorrión, ¡Entonces lo harían caer en la trampa! Le preguntarían: “Díganos, sabio, ¿está muerto o vivo?”, si él decía: “vivo”, ellos apretarían al gorrión hasta matarlo para probar que el viejo se había equivocado. Si decía “muerto”, dejarían volar la pequeña criatura y le mostrarían su error.

Recorrieron el sendero montañoso, llegaron a la cabaña y golpearon la puerta. Esperaron con las manos temblorosas a la espalda. La pesada puerta se abrió y allí, allí estaba  parado el enorme anciano. Los miró profundamente, y les dijo: 

- ¿Qué pasa hijos míos?

Nerviosos respondieron:

- Señor, viejo sabio, díganos si puede: ¿Qué tenemos en las manos? El sabio los miró con una mirada penetrante. Luego dijo:

- Un pájaro.

Ellos dijeron:

- Bien señor, ¿qué clase de pájaro?

- Un gorrión. 

Ellos se codearon.

- Díganos, anciano, ¿está vivo o muerto?

El ermitaño miró,  miró y pensó. Finalmente dijo:

- Como ustedes quieran que esté, ¡Así estará hijos míos!

Amigo, ¿qué tienes en tus manos en este momento? Tienes: ¡Tu destino! ¡Tu futuro! ¡Tus sueños! ¿Están vivos o muertos? La respuesta es: ¡Como tú lo quieras amigo mío! De tu determinación y trabajo depende que estén vivos o muertos tu destino, tus metas y proyectos. ¡Trabaja en ellos desde hoy! Porque ¡Hoy es tu mejor día y mañana será mucho mejor!

AS YOU WISH, FRIEND!

There is an ancient story of a wise, old hermit that lived in a cabin at the top of a mountain.  His reputation of being able to answer any question asked of him was widely known.  One day, two foolish boys decided to play a dirty trick on the old man.  They would ask him a question he couldn’t answer.

They captured a sparrow and decided they would go to the man with their hands behind their backs to ask him, “What do we have in our hands?”  If he guessed it was a bird, they would ask, “What kind of bird?”  If he guessed a sparrow, they would trap him!  They would ask, “Is it alive, or is it dead?”  If he said, “Alive,” they would choke the bird, smothering it to death to prove him wrong.  If he said, “Dead,” they would let it fly away and show him his error.

They climbed the rocky path, arrived to his cabin and pounded on the door.  With trembling hands behind their backs, they waited eagerly.  The heavy door opened and there stood the giant old man.  He looked at them intently and said,

-- “What has happened, my sons?”

Nervously they replied, 

--“Wise old man, tell us, if you can, what do we have in our hands?”  The wise man’s penetrating gaze met theirs and he said,

-“A bird.”

-“Well, sir, what kind of bird is it?”

-“A sparrow.”

The two boys elbowed each other.

-“Tell us, old man, is it alive or is it dead?”

The hermit looked at them and thought and thought.  Finally he said,

-“However you wish it to be, that’s how it will be, my sons!”  

Friend, what do you have in your hands at this moment?  You have your destiny, your future and your dreams!  Are they alive, or are they dead?  The answer is, “They will be however you wish them to be.”  The life and death of your destiny, goals and projects depends on your determination and effort.  Work toward them today! Remember, today is your best day and tomorrow will be even better!

Recoge Piedras

Un campesino en un momento de cansancio, se acostó y soñó que un ángel se le acercaba y le dijo: “Ve a tu casa al despertar, al llegar tendrás dos noticias una que te dará mucha alegría, hasta desbordar, y la otra mala que te pondrá triste hasta llorar, y en el camino recoge piedras. Todas las que puedas llevar”.

Este hombre despertó, y se encaminó hacia su casa. Mientras caminaba, empezó a recoger piedras. A medio camino pensó: “Solo fue un sueño”, y botó todas las piedras. Ya cerca de su casa pensó que pudiera ser verdad ese sueño, y por si acaso recogió algunas piedras.

Al llegar a casa, empieza a contarle el sueño a su esposa, mientras va poniendo las piedras en la mesa, de repente el rostro de su esposa se ilumina y con sorpresa grita: “!Somos ricos!, ¡Somos ricos!”. “¿Por qué?” pregunta el esposo, y ella le dice: “Mira las piedras que trajiste”. Las piedras se habían convertido en esmeraldas, rubíes, perlas, diamantes, en todo tipo de piedras preciosas.

Los dos saltan y gritan de alegría hasta desbordar. Pero de pronto, el hombre se pone triste, se sienta a llorar. La esposa le dice: “¿Por qué estas triste, no ves que somos ricos?” y él responde: “POR QUE NO RECOGI MAS PIEDRAS”.

Amigo, éste hombre nos representa a cada uno de nosotros, el camino de vuelta a casa, es el camino de la vida, que todos transitamos. Y las piedras en el camino, son las oportunidades que tenemos en la vida, que a su tiempo se convierten en tremendos beneficios.

No seas como éste hombre que recogió pocas piedras, no supo aprovechar sus oportunidades. ¿Tú crees que no tienes oportunidades? ¡Claro que sí! Tienes salud, puedes hablar, y caminar, estudias, tienes un trabajo, y si no lo tienes también eso es una oportunidad. No te quedes esperando, sal hoy en busca de tus oportunidades, porque ¡Hoy es tu mejor día y mañana será mucho mejor!

Gather Stones

Once upon a time, a peasant was exhausted, so he lay down to rest and dreamed that an angel came to him.  The angel instructed him, “When you awaken, go to your home.  When you arrive, you will receive two pieces of news that will fill you with joy overflowing on one hand, and the other so terrible you will weep.  On your way home, gather as many stones as you can carry.”

The man awoke and started home.  As he walked he began to pick up stones.  Half-way there he thought to himself, “It was only a dream,” and he threw away all the stones.  But nearing his house, he thought again and decided that the dream could be true, so he picked up some stones just in case it should be.

On arriving, he began to tell his wife the dream.  As he spoke, he put the stones on the table. Suddenly his wife’s face glowed and she shouted, “We´re rich, we’re rich!”  “Why?” he asked her, and she replied:  “Look at the stones that you brought.”  The stones had turned into emeralds, rubies, pearls, diamonds and all types of precios stones.

They both shouted for joy that overflowed.  But suddenly the man was overcome with sorrow til he sat down and cried.  His wife asked him, “Why are you sad?  Can’t you see we’re rich?”  He responded:  “WHY DIDN’T I GATHER MORE STONES?”

Friend, this man represents each of us, returning home.  The road home is the road of life over which all of us must pass.  The stones on the road are the opportunities that we are given which in their time become tremendous benefits.

Don’t be this man who gathered few stones and didn’t know how to seize the opportunities he was given.  Do you feel your opportunities are few? What about your health, your ability to speak and walk, to study and to work?  If you don’t have a job, this, too, is an opportunity.  Don’t wait any longer; seek out today the opportunities that await you.  Remember, today is your best day and tomorrow will be even better!

LA VIDA ES SIMPLE / LIFE IS SIMPLE

SI, TU PUEDES

Hay en un pueblo norteamericano, una pareja que es indispensable, son los operadores de la central telefónica de los campesinos y tienen la central de teléfonos en su propia casa, se turnan en la tarea de telefonistas y conocen la voz de los doscientos veinte habitantes. 

El es un excelente instructor de boy scouts. De su agrupación han surgido ocho águilas scout, algo extraordinario, ya que la mayor parte de las poblaciones pequeñas no produce más que un águila scout cada diez años más o menos. Naturalmente él lleva en excursiones a su grupo y les enseña técnicas de exploración y supervivencia al aire libre, manejo de la brújula, y otras cosas por el estilo. Ambos bordean los cincuenta años de edad y también fabrican escobas y tejen tapices en sus ratos libres, hacen carteras, cinturones y billeteras de gran belleza. El además se especializa en restaurar muebles antiguos. ¡Ah! Se me olvidaba decirte: los dos son ciegos.

Amigo, si ésta pareja, son capaces de hacer todo esto, ¿Por qué tu y yo no seríamos capaces de hacerlo?, sobre todo no teniendo la desventaja que ellos tienen. Pero si tal vez, tienes alguna desventaja, recuerda, existe la ley de la compensación. Otras áreas de tu vida destacarán, y no tienes que sentirte mal, si no puedes ver, o caminar, o si tienes otra desventaja como la económica que es tan popular, porque Dios te hizo capaz de vencer y superar todos los obstáculos, y si no has podido todavía, lo harás dentro de poco. Sólo necesitas determinación. Porque amigo, nada es imposible para el hombre que determina como esta pareja sacudirse del pensamiento de: “No puedo”. Ellos creyeron que eran capaces de eso y mucho más.

Como ellos, tú puedes hallar habilidades escondidas, si tan solo comienzas a pensar que tú puedes, ¡Si¡ piensa que puedes desde ahora, porque ¡Hoy es tu mejor día y mañana será mucho mejor!

YES, YOU CAN

In an American town, there’s a couple that is indispensable.  They are the operators of a peasant-farmer switchboard and they have the switchboard in their own house. They take turns as telephone operators and they recognize the voices of the two hundred and twenty inhabitants.

The husband is an excellent boy scout instructor. Eight eagle scouts have risen from his group. This is something extraordinary, because in most parts of little populations only one eagle scout is produced about every ten years. He naturally takes his group on excursions, teaching them techniques about exploration and outdoor survival, how to manage a compass and some other similar things. Both of them are about 50 years old. They manufacture brooms and weave tapestry in their free time, make purses, belts and very well- made wallets. Moreover, he specializes in restoring old furniture. Oh! I forgot to mention that both of them are blind.

Friend, if this couple is able to do all of this, why aren’t you and I are able to do it, especially since we don’t have their disadvantage? But if in case, you have any disadvantage, remember the law of compensation exists. Other areas of your life will stand out. You don’t have to feel bad if you can’t see, walk or have any other disadvantage (such as financial problems which affect many of us), because God made you capable of defeating it and overcoming all of your obstacles. And if you haven’t overcome them yet, you will be able to do so in a short time. You just need determination because, my dear friend, nothing is impossible for the man that makes a decision like this couple did when they removed the words “I can’t” from their vocabulary. They believed they were able to do so and even more.

Like this couple, you can find hidden skills in yourself if you just start to think that you can. Yes!  Think that you can do it starting now, because you’d better remember this: Today is your best day and tomorrow will be even better!

Sacude tu Destino

¿Hasta qué punto sería doloroso el caerse del monte Everest? Es así como describió Lee Iacocca su destitución de la oficina “del tamaño de un apartamento de hotel” que ocupaba como presidente de la Ford Motor Company, para ir a parar a un escritorio de poca monta en un almacén de la compañía. Tenía toda clase de razones para rendirse. Tenía cincuenta y cuatro años de edad, poseía una seguridad financiera suficiente para retirarse, y estaba sin empleo por primera vez en su carrera de treinta dos años en la misma compañía. Lleno de rabia, resentimiento y humillación, Iacocca se enfrentó a la necesidad de tomar una decisión.

En su autobiografía el escribió:                                                                                                                     "Todos encontramos en la vida, momentos en los que surge algo constructivo en medio de la adversidad. Hay ocasiones en las que las cosas parecen estar mal que es preciso tomar el destino por los hombros y darle una buena sacudida. Estaba lleno de rabia y no me quedaba más que una solución: Podía volver la ira contra mi mismo, con resultados desastrosos, o bien podía dominar esa energía y utilizarla para hacer algo provechoso"

Lee Iacocca fue entonces a tratar de rescatar de la bancarrota a una de las principales fábricas de automóviles de los Estado Unidos, logrando pagar siete años antes de lo previsto una préstamo federal  sin precedentes por mil millones de dólares, y salvar así 600 mil empleos.

Amigo, ¿Has sacudido alguna vez tu propio destino por los hombros? Si no es así, puedes estar seguro de que el destino te sacudirá a tí.

La ira, la frustración y el resentimiento es pura energía. Tú puedes volver la ira y el resentimiento contra ti mismo con resultados desastrosos, o dominarlos y utilizar esa energía provechosamente a tu favor.

Haz como Lee Iacocca, sacude tu destino hoy, y comienza algo provechoso, porque ¡Hoy es tu mejor día y mañana será mucho mejor!

Toss your Destiny

How painful would it be to fall down from Mount Everest?  This was how Lee Iacocca felt when he was dismissed from his office. He said, “the size of a hotel apartment” that I occupy as President of Ford Motor Company, to end up sitting at a desk handling unimportant issues in a warehouse of a company. He had all types of reasons to give up. He was fifty four years old, he had enough money to retire, and he found himself without a job for the first time in his thirty year professional career at the same company. Full of rage, resentment and humiliation, Iacocca needed to make a decision.

In his autobiography he wrote:

"We all find in life, moments when something constructive arises in the middle of adversity. There are occasions when things seem to go wrong.  It is at this time when it is necessary to throw destiny off your shoulders and give it a good toss.  I was full of rage and I only had one solution I could take. I could turn the rage against myself- having disastrous results - or I could take that energy and use it to do something useful"

Lee Iacocca then decided to try to rescue one of the main car manufacturers in the United States from bankruptcy. He was able to pay back a billion-dollar federal loan seven years before the deadline. This was unprecedented! And he saved 600 thousand jobs.

Friend, have you ever tossed your destiny off your shoulder?  If not, you can be sure that your destiny will toss you off.

The rage, frustration and resentment are pure energy. You can turn the rage and the resentment against yourself with disastrous results, or dominate them and use that energy to your favor.

Do like Lee Iacocca, toss your destiny today and start something useful, because, Today is your best day and tomorrow will be even better!

La Niña y el Angel

Hay una maravillosa fábula que nos habla de una pequeña niña que camina por una pradera, cuando de pronto ve a una mariposa atravesada por una espina. Con mucho cuidado la libera y la mariposa comienza a alejarse volando, pero después regresa y se convierte en un ángel. “Por tu bondad” le dice a la pequeña, “Te concederé tus mas caro deseo”. La niña se queda pensando un momento y replica: “Quiero ser feliz”.

El ángel se inclina hacia ella, le murmura algo al oído y después desaparece súbitamente.

A medida que la niña crecía, nadie en esa tierra era más feliz que ella. Siempre que alguien le preguntaba cuál era el secreto de su felicidad, solo sonreía respondiendo: “Escuché a un ángel”.

Cuando llegó a la ancianidad, los vecinos temían que el fabuloso secreto se fuese a la tumba con ella. “Revélanos por favor”, le suplicaron, “Revélanos lo que te dijo el ángel”.

La que para entonces era una encantadora anciana simplemente sonrió y respondió: “¡Me dijo que todos, no importa lo seguros que pareciesen, todos tenían necesidad de mi!”

Amigo, ¿Quieres ser feliz? ¡Claro que sí! Es tu respuesta, aquí tienes el secreto de la felicidad: Todos tienen necesidad de ti. Busca una necesidad y súplela. Busca a quien ayudar este día y ayúdale.

¿No crees que ha llegado el momento de olvidarnos de nuestros mezquinos egos, de renunciar a nuestros temores de parecer sentimentales o ingenuos y de ayudarnos los unos a los otros? Todos nos necesitamos mutuamente.

Amigo, hoy día busca a quien ayudar y ayúdale. Ese es el secreto de la felicidad. Hoy, hoy hay alguien que te necesita. Recuerda hazlo hoy, porque ¡Hoy es tu mejor día, y mañana será mucho mejor!

The Girl and the Angel

There is a marvelous fable which tells us about a little girl who walks through a prairie, when suddenly she sees a butterfly stuck by a thorn. She sets the butterfly free very carefully and then it starts flying away, but later it comes back and turns into an angel.  “Because of your kindness,” says the angel to the girl, “I will grant your most expensive wish.” The girl starts thinking about it and replies, “I want to be happy”.

The angel bends down to her, whispers something into her ear and then suddenly disappears.

As she grew up, nobody was happier than her in that land. Whenever someone asked her about the secret of her happiness she just smiled replying, “I listened to an angel”.

When she reached an old age, the neighbors were afraid that the fabulous secret would go with her to the grave. “Reveal it to us, please” they begged her, “reveal to us what the angel said to you”.

By then, the lovely elderly woman simply smiled and replied, “He told me that everybody, no matter how safe they seem to be, they all have need of me.”

My dear friend, do you want to be happy? Of course, you do! It is your answer; here you find the secret to happiness: Everybody has need of you.  Look for a need and supply it. Look for someone who you can help today and do it.

Don’t you think that the time has come to forget our selfish egos, to give up our sentimental or naïve fears and to help each other?  We have a mutual need for each other.

Friend, today look for someone who you can help and do it. This is the secret of happiness.  Today, there’s someone who needs you. Remember it and do it today because:  Today is your better day and tomorrow will be much better!

LA MINA DE DIAMANTES EN EL JARDIN

Quiero contarte de un señor que deseaba ser rico, ¿quién no desea ser rico, amigo? Así que fue a la librería y compró todos los libros que trataban sobre diamantes, aprendió dónde se encuentran, cómo se producen, qué hacer para extraerlos de la tierra y demás. Consiguió toda la información necesaria sobre cómo obtener diamantes.

Descubrió que en Africa, hay muchos diamantes. Así que decidió viajar allá para encontrarlos. Vendió su casa, todas sus pertenencias y emprendió el viaje. Pasaron los años, su búsqueda fue en vano, gasto todo su dinero, y al fin frustrado volvió a su casa, y a su ciudad. Cuando pasó por la que había sido su casa, fue grande su sorpresa cuando vio que, esa humilde casa que vendió, la habían convertido en una grande y lujosa mansión. Movido por su curiosidad, toco la puerta y pidió hablar con el dueño, cuando salió le pregunta: “¿Cómo es que pudo convertir la humilde casa que le vendí, en esta elegante mansión?”.

El hombre le respondió: “Bueno, a mi me gusta la jardinería, así que los primeros días después de comprarle la casa, me dediqué a arreglar el jardín, y para mi sorpresa, encontré una mina de diamantes, y me hice muy, pero muy rico”.

Querido amigo, no seas como este hombre que fue a buscar diamantes tan lejos, cuando siempre los tuvo tan cerca en su jardín. Descubre los diamantes en ti mismo, tienes habilidades, tienes oportunidades, tienes amigos y familiares, descubre diamantes en ellos, y aun en tus problemas puedes hallar diamantes.

Tú eres rico, hoy despertaste y estabas vivo, eso es un diamante. Tienes este día de veinticuatro horas, es un diamante de veinticuatro quilates. Recuerda ¡Hoy es tu mejor día y mañana será mucho mejor!

THE DIAMOND MINE IN THE GARDEN

I want to tell you about a man who wanted to be rich. Who doesn’t want to be rich, right? So he went to a bookstore and bought all of the books about diamonds. He learned where they were found, how they were made, what to do to mine them out of the earth, among other things. He found all the information that he needed about how to obtain diamonds.

 He discovered that in Africa there are many diamonds. So he decided to travel there to find them. He sold his home and his belongings, and started on the journey. The years passed, and his search was in vain. He spent all his money, and frustrated he finally returned home to his city. When he passed by what was once his home, it came as a great surprise when he saw that his humble home that he had sold was now a luxurious mansion.  He was so moved by his curiosity that he knocked on the door and asked to speak with the owner. When he came out, he asked him,” How were you able to convert this humble house into this elegant mansion?”

The man responded: “Well, I enjoy gardening. So the few days after I bought the house, I started working on the garden and to my surprise I found a diamond mine and became very, very rich.

Dear friend, don’t be like this man who went to search for diamonds so far away when he always had them close: in his own garden. Discover the diamonds in yourself. You have abilities, opportunities, friends and family. Discover diamonds in them. Even in your problems you can find diamonds.

You are rich. Today you awoke and were alive; that is a diamond. You have this 24-hour day, it is a diamond of twenty-four carats. Remember: Today is your best day, and tomorrow will be even better!

RECHAZO VS TE AMO (2da Parte)

Dios sabe exactamente de lo que tu necesitas para liberarte de esos sentimientos de inutilidad y rechazo. El te ofrece fielmente los tres elementos esenciales que necesitas para disfrutar de una sana autoimagen: sentido de pertenencia, valía y capacidades.

Primero, el Padre celestial sabe que tu tienes necesidad de ser parte de algo importante, y por eso proclama que tu perteneces a la familia de El. El apóstol Juan lo alaba por esto diciendo: “Mirad cuál amor nos ha dado el Padre, para que seamos llamados hijos de Dios” (1 Juan 3:1) El te eligió a ti, te invitó a ser parte de su familia. Tu eres aceptado, querido y necesario. Realmente, tu perteneces a la familia de Dios.

Segundo, el Señor entiende que tu necesitas saber que eres valorado, y por eso El te declara digno de su amor. Piensa en lo que Jesús hizo por ti: “Por el gozo puesto delante de él sufrió la cruz” (Hebreos 12:2). ¿Cuál fue el gozo puesto delante de el? La relación contigo. El sacrificó todo: bienestar, dignidad e incluso su vida, porque te consideraba mas importante que todo esto. Ciertamente, tu tienes valor. Vales la sangre de Cristo.

Tercero, Dios entiende que tu necesitas sentirte capaz, y por eso promete ayudarte a tener éxito en cualquier tarea que El te dé. No importa qué desafíos u obstáculos estés experimentando, tu sabes que tu “competencia provienen de Dios” (2 Corintios 3:5) El nunca te fallará. El te hace competente. El te dará la capacidad para tener éxito.

Espero que tu superarás tus sentimientos de rechazo, y que abrirás tu corazón al amor que el Padre ha derramado con abundancia sobre ti. Cuando el Señor te dice: “Te amo”, El no solamente transforma tu vida; El transforma también tu eternidad. Tu perteneces a la familia de Dios, eres digno de su amor, y El te ayudará a tener éxito en cualquier tarea que te dé. Búscale con afán cada día, y escucha cuando El te llama amorosamente por tu nombre. Acepta su verdad absoluta, porque el Señor te acepta absolutamente. Acepta su verdad incondicionalmente, por que el Señor te acepta incondicionalmente.

REJECTION VS. I LOVE YOU    (2nd Part)

God knows exactly what you need to deliver you from these feelings of uselessness and rejection. He faithfully offers you the three essential elements that you need to enjoy a healthy self-image: Sense of belonging, value, and competence.

First, the Heavenly Father knows that you need to be a part of something important, and this is why he proclaims that you belong to his family. The Apostle John praises him for this saying, “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!” (1 John 3:1). He chose you. He invited you to be a part of his family. You are accepted, loved and necessary. Really, you belong to the family of God. 

Secondly, God understands that you need to know that you are valued, and that is why he declares you worthy of his love. Think on what Jesus did for you: “For the joy set before him he endured the cross (Hebrews 12:2)” What was the joy set before him? The relationship with you. He sacrificed everything: well-being, dignity, even his life, because he considered you more important that all of that. Truly you have value. You are worth the blood of Christ. 

Thirdly, God understands that your need to feel competent, and that is why he promises to help you to have success in whatever task he gives you. It doesn’t matter what challenges or obstacles you are experiencing, you know that your, “competence comes from God.” (2 Corinthians 3:5) He will never fail you. He makes you competent. He will give you the capacity to have success. 

I hope that you overcome your feelings of rejection, and that you open your heart to the love that the Father has poured out with abundance over you. When the Lord tells you, “I love you,” it will not just transform your life; it will transform also your eternity. You belong to the family of God, you are worthy of his love, and He will help you to have success in whatever task he gives. Seek him with eagerness every day, and listen when he calls you lovingly by name. Accept his absolute truth, because the Lord accepts you completely. Accept his trust unconditionally, because he accepts you unconditionally.

RECHAZO VS TE AMO (1ra. Parte)

La frase: “te amo” posiblemente sea la frase mas importante del mundo. A todos nos gusta escuchar que nos aman. Pero, ¿escuchamos esto lo suficiente en nuestra vida? ¿Escuchas esto lo suficiente? Tal vez te sientes luchando constantemente con pensamientos: “No soy digno de ser amado. Me han rechazado tantas veces, que no hay manera de que alguien pueda quererme o respetarme”. Quizá piensas: “Nadie se interesa realmente por mí. No sirvo para nada”. Es posible que te se sientas así porque fuiste herido o rechazado en el pasado.

El rechazo es doloroso, penetra lo más íntimo de lo que somos, y sus consecuencias pueden ser catastróficas. Podemos volvernos materialistas, amargados, fríos y prejuiciosos. El rechazo nos hace sentir inferiores y desconfiados de los demás; nos aislamos; nos causa depresión, además de otros problemas de salud. Puede, incluso, arrastrar a adicciones como el alcohol, las drogas, los juegos de zar o la inmoralidad sexual, en un intento por anestesiar nuestro sufrimiento.

¿Qué podemos hacer, entonces, si estamos luchando con sentimientos de rechazo? ¿A dónde podemos acudir?

Hay alguien que nos llama siempre por nuestro nombre, y nos dice: “Te amo”. Es nuestro Padre celestial, lo dice cada momento y cada día. El hace esto por medio de su sacrificio por nosotros: “Mas Dios muestra su amor para con nosotros, en que siendo aún pecadores, Cristo murió por nosotros” (Romanos 5:8)

Su amor por ti y por mí es firme y constante. Es por eso que Romanos 8:38, 39 declara que “ni la muerte, ni la vida, ni ángeles, ni principados, ni lo presente, no lo por venir, ni lo alto, ni lo profundo, ni ninguna cosa creada nos podrá separar del amor de Dios, que es en Cristo Jesús Señor nuestro”.

REJECTION VS. I LOVE YOU (1st. Part)

The phrase “I love you” is possibly the most important phrase in the world. All of us like to hear that we are loved. But, do we hear it enough in our lives? Do you hear it enough? Maybe you feel like you are constantly fighting thoughts like,” I am not worthy of being loved. They have rejected me so many times, that there is no way for anyone to love or respect me.” Maybe you think: “ No one really cares about me. I am useless.” It is possible that you feel like this because you were hurt and rejected in the past. 

Rejection is hurtful, it penetrates the most intimate places of who we are and it’s consequences can be catastrophic. We can become materialistic, bitter, cold, and prejudiced. Rejection makes us feel inferior and untrusting of others; we isolate ourselves; it causes depression, among other health problems. It can also bring forth addictions to alcohol, drugs, gambling, and sexual immorality, in an attempt to numb our suffering. 

What can we do, then, if we are fighting with feelings of rejection? Where can we go? 

There is someone who always calls our name, and tells us, “I love you.” It is our heavenly father, he tells us every moment of everyday. He does this through his sacrifice for us: “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)

His love for you and for me is firm and constant. This is why Romans 8:38- 39 declares, “neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

COSAS DE VECINAS

Dos mujeres, vivían una frente a la otra. Una de ellas, desde su ventana veía como su vecina todas las mañanas tendía la ropa en largos cordeles; y le hacia el cometario a su marido, mientras éste desayunaba: “Cómo es posible que la vecina saque a tender una ropa tan sucia, si yo lavara mi ropa me esmeraría porque quedara limpia. Pero si ésta mujer es desaseada en la ropa que tiende, ¿cómo tendrá la casa?”

Todos los días este mismo cometario. Un día, el esposo de la mujer negativa, se fue a trabajar más temprano que de costumbre. Cuando la mujer despierta, va a la ventana, esta ves, se queda paralizada por lo que ve, la ropa ya estaba tendida en el cordel y la ropa estaba blanca, resplandecía de lo blanco.

Ni bien llega el esposo en la tarde, le dice: “Mira por la ventana, al fin lavó bien la ropa, la vecina; mira esas sábanas, que blancura, nunca he visto unas sábanas más blancas”

El marido al insistente comentario de su esposa, le dice: “Esposa, ésta mañana mientras dormías limpié los vidrios de nuestras ventanas. Eran nuestros vidrios los que estaban sucios, no la ropa de la vecina”

Amigo, las personas negativas son aquellas, que siempre se adelantan a los hechos pensando en el lado oscuro de las cosas. La gente que siempre señala los errores de los demás.

Esta mujer pudo haber cruzado la calle hasta la casa de su vecina, si hubiera dejado de pensar negativamente, y le hubiese dado un cumplido sincero por esa ardua tarea que hacía todos los días. Al hacerlo hubiera ganado una buena amiga y se hubiera dado cuenta al estar fuera de su casa, que los vidrios de sus ventanas estaban sucios.

Amigo, comienza a ser positivo, mirando las cosas buenas de la vida y de las personas, ¡ahora! Por que ¡Hoy es tu mejor día, y mañana será mucho mejor!

Two Female Neighbors

Two ladies lived across the street from one another.  One of them, from their house window watched everyday how her neighbor would hang clothes in their long clothesline.  While her husband was eating breakfast she would comment: “How is it possible that the neighbor would hang such dirty laundry in the clothesline? I would at least make the effort to make sure our laundry would be clean.  If this woman doesn’t put such effort in her laundry, I can’t imagine how the inside of her house would be?

 Every day the lady would make such negative comments towards her neighbor.  One day the husband of the lady who made negative comments towards her neighbor rose from the bed hours earlier than he was accustomed to.  And when his wife woke up, she went to the window, this time, she froze because of what she saw, her neighbors clothes was already hanging from the clothesline and it was crisp white, shinning from its whiteness.

Soon after the husband arrived home that afternoon, she met him by telling him: “Look out the window, finally the neighbor put the effort in cleaning her laundry the right way; look at the linen, such whiteness, I have never seen linen as bright and white.” 

While insisting her husband to look out the window, her husband said to her: “My dear wife, while you were sleeping this morning, I cleaned all of our windows.  You know it was our windows that were not clean, not the neighbor’s clothes.”

My friend, negative people always place themselves ahead of the facts, and on the darker side of things.  They’re always pointing at the mistakes of others. 

This woman could have crossed the street towards her neighbor’s house if she would have stopped thinking negatively, and could have complimented her on her daily laundry efforts instead.  In doing so she would have gained a good friend and she would have noticed that by being outside of her house that her windows were in need of cleaning.

My friend, start your day by being positive, looking at the bright side of life and people NOW; you ask why?  Because today is your best day, and tomorrow it will be even better!

¿A CUAL ATLETA RESPONDE DIOS?

Muchos atletas antes de comenzar la competencia oran a Dios para pedirle que lo ayude a ganar, la pregunta válida es: ¿A cuál de éstos atletas le responde la oración? Sólo le tendría que responder a uno de ellos. ¿A cuál de ellos?. Bueno, primero que todo, debemos considerar si Dios responde éste tipo de oración ya que estamos hablando de una competencia, ¿Dios está en esto?.

La Biblia no dice con claridad si Dios está de acuerdo con este tipo de competencias deportivas, tampoco dice que esté en desacuerdo. Por lo tanto nos corresponde a nosotros concluir de las pocas referencias que encontramos en la Biblia al respecto.    1 Timoteo 4:8, 9 “porque el ejercicio corporal para poco es provechoso, pero la piedad para todo aprovecha, pues tiene promesa de esta vida presente, y de la venidera. Palabra fiel es esta, y digna de ser recibida por todos.”

En la versión TLA (Traducción en Lenguaje Actual) dice: “Es verdad que el ejercicio físico ayuda a que todo el cuerpo esté sano, pero es mucho mejor esforzarse por confiar cada vez más en Dios, porque nos hace bien aquí en la tierra y también nos servirá cuando vivamos en el cielo. Esto es una verdad que podemos creer, y debemos creer”. 

Aquí, Dios ni condena ni aprueba el ejercicio físico, aunque no necesariamente está hablando de competencias.

Así que, si Dios está, en competencias deportivas o de otro tipo, y si, responde a las oraciones de los participantes podemos concluir que le respondería a:

AL QUE SE PREPARO MAS. Mateo 13:23 La parábola del sembrador nos enseña muchas cosas acerca de la misión de nuestra vida, una de ellas es que antes de sembrar la semilla y que ésta de fruto debemos “preparar” la tierra. Solo tierra preparada es “buena tierra” y da fruto y produce. Pocas son las personas que han triunfado sin preparación.

AL QUE SE ESFORZO MAS. Josué 1:7 “Solamente esfuérzate y sé muy valiente, para cuidar de hacer conforme a toda la ley que mi siervo Moisés te mandó; no te apartes de ella ni a diestra ni a siniestra, para que seas prosperado en todas las cosas que emprendas.”

AL QUE SE DISCIPLINO MAS. Hebreos 12:11 “Es verdad que ninguna disciplina al presente parece ser causa de gozo, sino de tristeza; pero después da fruto apacible de justicia a los que en ella han sido ejercitados”

AL QUE RENUNCIO MAS A COSAS QUE LE ESTORBABAN. 1 Corintios 9:25 “Todo aquel que lucha, de todo se abstiene; ellos, a la verdad, para recibir una corona corruptible, pero nosotros, una incorruptible”

(TLA) “Los que se preparan para competir en un deporte, dejan de hacer todo lo que pueda perjudicarlos. ¡Y lo hacen para ganarse un premio que no dura mucho! Nosotros, en cambio, lo hacemos para recibir un premio que dura para siempre”

5. AL QUE PERSEVERO MAS. Lucas 8:15 “Mas la que cayó en buena tierra, éstos son los que con corazón bueno y recto retienen la palabra oída, y dan fruto con perseverancia”

6. AL QUE SE ESFORZO POR CONFIAR MAS EN DIOS. 1 Timoteo 4:8, 9 (TLA) “Es verdad que el ejercicio físico ayuda a que todo el cuerpo esté sano, pero es mucho mejor esforzarse por confiar cada vez más en Dios, porque nos hace bien aquí en la tierra y también nos servirá cuando vivamos en el cielo. Esto es una verdad que podemos creer, y debemos creer”

Así que Dios solo responderá a uno. Dios tiene una mezcla perfecta de justicia y misericordia. 

Dios no podría contestarle al mas irresponsable, aunque Dios es misericordioso. Pero contestará al mas esforzado, porque Dios es justo.

Which athlete will God answer?

Many athletes before starting a competition pray to God asking him to help him/her win. The valid question is: “ Which of these athletes will God answer? “ He can only answer one. Which will he choose?  Well, first, we should consider whether God answers this type of question since we are talking about a competition. Is God present in this?

The Bible is not clear whether God is in agreement with these types of sporting competitions, neither does it say if he is against it. So it is up to us to decide based on the references that we find in the Bible. 1 Timothy 4:8, 9 “8 For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come. 9 This is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance.”

In the Spanish TLA version (The modern language translation) it says: “ It is true that physical exercise helps the whole body be healthy, but it is much better to work to trust every day more in God, because it is good for us here on earth and also helps us for our life in heaven. This is a truth that we can truly believe in, and we should believe in.”

Here, God neither condemns nor advocates physical exercise, even though it is not necessarily speaking about competitions. 

So if in fact God is present in sporting competitions or any other type of competitions, we can conclude that if he responds to the participants he will respond to: 

THE MOST PREPARED. Matthew 13:23 The parable of the sower tells us many things about our life mision. One of them is that before sowing the seed and letting it grow, we must first “prepare” the ground. Only ground that is prepared will be “good soil” and will bear fruit and produce. Few people have tasted victory without preparation. 

 THE ONE WHO WORKED THE MOST. Joshua 1:7 “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go.

THE ONE WHO DISCIPLINED HIMSELF MORE. Hebrews 12:11 “No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.”

THE ONE WHO RENOUNCES MORE OBSTACLES. 1 Corinthians 9:25 “Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.

In the Spanish TLA version (The modern language translation)” The ones who prepare themselves to compete in a sport, stop doing everything that can hurt them. They do it to win a temporary prize!   We, on the other hand, do it to receive a prize that will last forever”

5. THE ONE WHO PERSERVERED MORE. Luke 8:15 "But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop.”

6. THE ONE WHO WORKED HARDER TO TRUST GOD. 1 Timothy 4:8,9 (TLA, translated) “ It is true that physical exercise helps the whole body be healthy, but it is much better to work to trust every day more in God, because it is good for us here on earth and also helps us for our life in heaven. This is a truth that we can truly believe in, and we should believe.”

So God will only answer one. God has a perfect mix of justice and mercy.

God will not be able to answer the most irresponsible, even though God is merciful.  However he will answer the harder worker, because God is just.

¿Qué de los que pierden?

Una de los temas que siempre me han inquietado cuando veo algún tipo de competencias como: de música, de carreras, de belleza, de arte, de ciencias o de deportes como las pasadas Olimpiadas Londres 2012, son las personas que pierden la competencia. ¿Qué de ellos?, ¿Cómo se sienten?, ¿Qué pasa por sus mentes?, ¿Se alegran realmente del triunfo de sus competidores?, ¿Se desaniman, o perder les alienta mas bien a seguir en el desafío?.

Por esta inquietud he pensado mucho al respecto y aquí algunos de mis pensamientos: Cuando ganamos una competencia nos sentimos exitosos y cuando perdemos nos sentimos devastados. Si esto es así contigo es porque no tenemos bien definido los términos: Exito y Fracaso, o Perder y Ganar.

Exito para muchos es sinónimo de dinero, fama, trofeos, ganar competencias, etc. para mi realmente esto no es éxito, estas cosas son la coronación del éxito, o son las consecuencias naturales del éxito, o mejor dicho son los resultados lógicos del éxito. El éxito no es ganar una competencia, al éxito no lo podemos encasillar o encerrar en un evento culminante que pasa a la historia rápidamente, porque detrás viene otro que lo hace mejor y más rápido y en la próxima competencia nos destrona.

El éxito es un proceso:

El éxito es la DECISION de arriesgarte a algo, es el resultado de pensar y pensar muchas veces hasta que determinas hacerlo.

El éxito es la VOLUNTAD de comenzar. Pocas cosas son tan difíciles como dar el primer paso, miles de personas mueren cada día llenos de sueños y decisiones de hacer realidad sus sueños pero nunca comenzaron, ni dieron el primer paso en su viaje a ese destino maravilloso que se llama: Triunfo.

El éxito es el CORAJE de perseverar en el desafío que se propuso, batallando contra cada enemigo interno y externo y superándolos no con facilidad sino aguantando, porque nuestra verdadera competencia no es con otros sino con nosotros mismos. Nosotros no perdemos nuestras batallas porque consideramos a nuestros oponentes mas fuertes, sino porque nos consideramos nosotros mas débiles. Nuestra verdadera competencia es con nosotros mismos; ¿hasta donde somos capaces de aguantar?. Toda competencia es una competencia de aguante.

El éxito es la DIGNIDAD de terminar lo que hemos comenzado. Muchos son los que se quedan a mitad del camino, por cosas y situaciones que les llamaré: excusas. Dignidad es hacer aun lado las excusas y hacerlo por nuestra patria, por nuestro apellido, por nuestros hijos, por nuestros padres, por nuestra esposa (o), por nuestra comunidad, por nuestra iglesia, por nuestro Dios. “EL ÉXITO NO ES PARA QUIENES PIENSAN QUE PUEDEN HACER ALGO…SINO PARA QUIENES LO HACEN…Y TERMINAN”

Es así como creo con todo mi corazón que el EXITO ES UN PROCESO, es el camino y no la meta. Es el camino no el destino. Es así como creo que toda medalla, trofeo, dinero, fama, meta lograda, premios, etc son solo la coronación de nuestro éxito, son la recompensa natural, lógica y bien merecida del proceso por el que hemos pasado: Exito.

Entonces los que pierden las competencias, y regresan a sus casas sin medallas ni trofeos, ¿Qué con ellos? También tuvieron éxito, solo que aún no los han recompensado. Ellos también tuvieron éxito solo que no llegaron de primero. Ellos también tuvieron la DECISION de arriesgarse, la VOLUNTAD de comenzar, el CORAJE de perseverar y la DIGNIDAD de terminar la competencia. Si continúan en el proceso pronto les llegara su turno. Todos somos ganadores pero solo uno se lleva el premio, competid de tal manera que lo ganéis!

What about the ones that lose?

One of the things that has always bothered me when I see some type of competition as: music, race, beauty, art, or science or sporting like the recent 2012 London Olympics, are the people that lose the competition. What about them? How do they feel? What goes through their mind? Are they really happy for their competitor’s victory? Are they discouraged, or does losing drive them to continue the challenge?

Because of this I have thought a lot about this and here are some of my thoughts: When we win a competition we feel successful and when we lose we feel devastated. If this is us, it is because we have not correctly defined the following terms: success and failure, or losing and winning.

Success for most is a synonym of money, fame, trophies, winning competitions ,etc. To me this is not success, these things are the crown of success, or the natural consequences of success, or better said, the logical results of success. Success is not winning a competition, we cannot put success in a box and say that it is a culminating event that quickly passes through history, because behind us comes another that is better and faster and will soon take our place.

Success is a process:

Success is the DETERMINATION to risk yourself for something, it is the result of thinking and thinking until you decide to do it. 

Success is the WILL to start. Few things are more difficult than taking the first step. Thousands of people die each day filled with dreams and decisions to make their dreams come true, but they never started. They didn’t even take the first step on their journey to the marvelous destination called: Triumph

Success is the COURAGE to persevere in the challenge that you gave yourself, battling against every enemy (internal and external) and overcoming them, not easily but with determination. Our real competition is not with others, but rather with ourselves. We don’t lose our battles because we think our opponent is stronger, but rather because we think ourselves too weak. Our real competition is ourselves:  How much are we willing to endure?  Every competition is a competition of endurance. 

Success is the DIGNITY to finish what we have started.  Many are those who abandon half way through, for things and situations that I will call: excuses. Dignity is to push all excuses to the side and to complete it for our country, for our name, for our children, for our parents, for our spouse, for our community, for our church, for our God. “Success is not for those who think they can to something…. But for those who do it … and finish”

This is why I believe with all my heart that success if a process. It is the path not the goal. It is the journey not the destination. This is why I believe that every medal, trophy, money, fame, goal met, award, etc. are only the crown of our success, the natural reward, logical and well deserved, of the process that we have gone through: success

So those that lose the competition, and return home without medals or trophies, what about them? They were also successful, even though it was not rewarded. They were also successful it is just that they did not arrive first. They also had the DETERMINATION to risk it, the WILL to start, the COURAGE to persevere, and the DIGNITY to finish the competition. If they continue with the process, their turn will soon come. We are all winners but only one takes the prize. Compete in a way so that you may win it!

BIENVENIDOS A FRACASAR EN EL 2013

En este año 2013 definitivamente tendremos muchos aciertos y victorias, pero de seguro tendremos también fracasos. Quiero compartir y quiero que entiendas algunas cosas al respecto:

1. Fracasar en algunas cosas no significa que somos fracasados, solo significa que no somos perfectos. Y esto es bueno porque nos mantiene humildes, dependientes de Dios e interdependientes unos con otros. 

2. La gran mayoría de nosotros no hemos sido preparados para vivir con el fracaso,  pues nuestra cultura demanda que avancemos siempre de victoria en victoria. Cuando, ocasionalmente, experimentamos la derrota en proyectos y en otras situaciones, nuestra autoestima se ve afectada y fácilmente vine el desanimo y el pesimismo, especialmente cuando estábamos seguros que todo iba a salir bien. Así que no debemos planear fracasar pero si prepararnos mental, emocional y espiritualmente para el fracaso en este año. Si fallamos estaremos preparados para hacer frente decididamente y superar lo que venga.

3. En tiempos de derrota podemos perder mucho tiempo lamentándonos por las decisiones tomadas. No hay duda que es importante aprender de los errores cometidos. Sin embargo, todas las recriminaciones del mundo no pueden deshacer lo que ha ocurrido o lo que hemos provocado. Cuando estamos caídos, debemos ponernos de pié y resolver lo más rápido posible la situación que nos llevó a caer. Cuando caes, el enemigo quiere que te mantengas allí, sintiendo lástima por ti mismo y renegando por la situación que vives. Tu Padre celestial, sin embargo, te quiere otra vez en pie. Si hay cosas que confesar, confiésalas. Si hay personas que confrontar, confróntalas. Si hay situaciones que corregir, corrígelas. Pero no pierdas mucho tiempo lamentándote por los acontecimientos que te han tocado vivir.

4. Si tu eres un líder, se enérgico en las situaciones donde tus sentimientos te llevan al desánimo. Tu gente necesita ver que tu no eres una persona que pueda ser fácilmente derrotada. No se trata de dar la apariencia de ser invencible, sino de actuar decididamente a la hora de manejar los contratiempos de esta vida. Todos pasamos por situaciones adversas y no hay la menor duda que el fracaso es dolorosamente desgastante. Pero el líder se caracteriza por no permitir que esas situaciones condicionen, atrasen o estanquen su avance hacia las metas que el Señor le ha trazado.

5. Finalmente, no importa la derrota, comencemos otra vez, y de nuevo y de nuevo. No podemos darnos el lujo de desanimarnos y renunciar. Tenemos que levantarnos y comenzar de nuevo cuantas veces sean necesarias. “Porque siete veces cae el justo, y vuelve a levantarse” Proverbios 24:16 Tu y yo no somos de los que se dan por vencidos. Aunque no lo podamos ver ni creer cuando estamos en el momento de derrota, tu y yo pertenecemos a un casta especial, hemos sido creados a la imagen y semejanza de Dios. El no se da por vencido con nosotros. Nosotros no podemos darnos por vencidos con la vida. Esta vida que nos ha dado Dios es hermosa y vale la pena vivirla.

Unamonos y hagamos de la siguiente expresión nuestro lema para el 2013: En este año venga lo que venga y pase lo que pase, estaré firme, me mantendré firme y terminaré firme mi carrera!

WELCOME TO FAILING IN 2013

In 2013 we will definitely have many good decisions and victories, but we will surly also have failures. I want to share and I want you to understand a few things about this:

1. Failuring in some things does not mean that we are failures; it only means that we are not perfect. This is a good thing because it keeps us humble, and dependent upon God and interdependent on one another.

2. The great majority of us have not been prepared to live with failure, since our culture demands that we move forward always from victory to victory. When, occasionally, we experience defeating projects and in other situations, our self-esteem is affected and discouragement and pessimism easily presents itself, especially when we are sure that everything was going to turn out well.  So we should not plan to fail, but we should be prepared mentally, emotionally and spiritually for failure this year. If we fail we will be prepared to face it directly and overcome whatever comes our way.

3. In times of defeat we can lose a lot of time lamenting about the decisions we took. There is no doubt that it is important to learn from our mistakes, but all the scolding in the world could not change what happened or what we have provoked. When we are down, we should stand up and solve the problem that made us fall as quickly as possible. When you fall, the enemy wants you keep you there, feeling sorry for yourself and complaining about the situation you are living in. Your Heavenly Father, though, wants to see you standing again. If there are people that need to be confronted, confront them. IF there are situations to correct, correct them. However don’t waste a lot of time lamenting about the circumstances you have to live in.

4. If you are a leader, be energetic in the situation where your emotions take you to discouragement. Your people need to se that you are not a person that can be easily defeated. IT is not about appearing to be invincible, but about acting decisively in the moment of having to manage the setbacks of this life. We all go through hard situations and there is no doubt that failing is painfully wearing, but a leader is characterized by not letting these situations be a reason for a setback in you advancement toward the foals that the Lord has laid out.

5. Finally, defeat is not important, start again, and again, and again. We cannot five ourselves the luxury of becoming discouraged or giving up. We have to get up and start again no matter how many times it takes. “For though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again, but the wicked stumble when calamity strikes.” Proverbs 24:16 You and I are not those who give up. Even though we can not see it or believe it when we are in the moment of our defeat, you and I are a part of a special class, we have been created in the image and likeness of God. He does not give up on us. We should not give up on life. This life that God has given us is beautiful and it is worth living.

Let’s come together and make the following expression our motto for 2013: This year not matter what comes, no matter what happens, I will stand strong, stay strong, and finish strong my race! 

RESOLUCIONES DE AÑO NUEVO

La celebración de Año Nuevo es la mas universal de todas las fiestas y muchos han hecho resoluciones para comenzar el 2013. Nosotros no somos los primeros en hacerlo. Los antiguos Babilonios aparentemente inventaron esta costumbre. Sus mas populares resoluciones fueron la de devolver equipo prestado de labranza. Nosotros deberíamos hacer la misma resolución si hemos prestado algo y aún no lo hemos devuelto. Deberíamos comenzar por devolverle a Dios.

De acuerdo a los psicólogos, el problema es que, el 78% de nosotros fallamos en mantener o cumplir las resoluciones que hacemos. 

La clave para cumplir es encontrar una nueva fuente de energía y una nueva estrategia. Comprometerse no es suficiente. 

Definitivamente la fuente de energía es Dios mismo, no podemos hacer nada si El no lo permite, podemos tomar de esta fuente cada día en este nuevo año en Su Palabra, la Biblia. Has estado peleando en tus fuerzas por los últimos años, este año hazlo con la fuerza de Dios.

Y la estrategia es la oración, no puedes solo con tu fuerza de voluntad personal. La oración te enseña a depender humildemente de Dios. Nuestra cultura aplaude la autosuficiencia, pero realmente esto trabaja para nosotros?. Acaso cada Año Nuevo nos proponemos cosas y en el transcurso de los primeros días o semanas dejamos todas las resoluciones al olvido?. Erróneamente pensamos que haciendo las mismas cosas vamos a obtener resultados diferentes. Esto requiere que comencemos hacer algo diferente este año. Cambia tu fuente de energía y tu estrategia, no lo hagas solo, este  vez únete a Dios y con su ayuda podrás realizar todo lo que te propusiste.

Definitivamente, una nueva fuente de energía y una nueva estrategia son requeridas para cumplir las resoluciones de Año Nuevo.

NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS

The New Year’s celebration is one of the most universal of all the holidays and many have made resolutions to begin their 2013. We, however, are not the first to do so. The ancient Babylonians apparently invented this custom. Their most popular resolutions were to return borrowed farm equipment. We should make the same resolution if we have borrowed something and have not returned it. We should start by giving back to God.

According to psychologists, the problem is that 78% of us fail to keep or complete the resolutions that we make. 

The key to completing them is to find a new energy source and a new strategy: To commit is not enough. 

Of course the source of energy is definitely God himself; we can’t do anything if he does not allow it. We however, can use this energy source everyday of this New Year in His Word, the Bible. Have you been fighting using your own strength these last years, this year, do it with the strength from God.

The strategy is prayer. You cannot complete your resolutions only with your strength of will. Prayer is what teaches you to depend humbly on God. Our culture applauds the self-sufficient, but does that really work for us? Isn’t it true that every New Year we make new resolutions and during the first few days or week, we abandon them without a thought? Erroneously we think that doing the same thing will give us different results. This requires that we start to do something different this year. Change your energy source and your strategy, don’t do it alone. This time, come together with God and with His help you will be able to finish your resolutions. 

It is clear that a new energy source and a new strategy are required to complete New Year’s Resolutions.

LO MAS IMPORTANTE EN LA VIDA

Para iniciar mi blog quiero comenzar por lo mas importante: CONOCER A DIOS. La sociedad humana está enfocada en el conocimiento en general; hoy hay mas gente que estudia que hace cuatro décadas. ¿Sabías que se ha producido más información nueva en los últimos treinta años que en los cinco mil anteriores? Hoy tenemos todo tipo de herramientas para aprender lo que deseemos, sin embargo cada año hay menos personas interesadas en conocer mas a Dios. Cualquier otro tema se les hace mas interesante y necesario, que equivocados están.

Si conocemos mas a Dios, nos conoceremos mas a nosotros mismos, conoceremos mejor a nuestros semejantes, entenderemos y aceptaremos mejor a la vida, entenderemos mejor nuestro pasado, disfrutaremos mas nuestro presente y esperaremos nuestro futuro con entusiasmada anticipación. Todo será mejor en nuestra vida, todo de repente tendrá sentido si conocemos mas a Dios. 

Pero dos cosas nos hacen falta: La intención de conocerlo y un plan de crecimiento en Su conocimiento. En un mundo tan ajetreado y una vida cada día mas compleja, necesitamos fortalecer la voluntad de lograrlo y por supuesto nada ocurre sin un plan en éste caso diseñado con éste objetivo: CONOCER A DIOS.

No vas a conocer a Dios leyendo los clásicos de la literatura, ni en la TV o en el cine, o en la buena literatura motivacional, ni el último libro del escritor de moda. El único libro donde puedes encontrar a Dios y conocer mas de El, es Su Palabra, la Biblia. 

Dios quiere que lo conozcas, anhela ser conocido por ti: “Así dijo Jehová: No se alabe el sabio en su sabiduría, ni en su valentía se alabe el valiente, ni el rico se alabe en sus riquezas. Mas alábase en esto el que se hubiere de alabar: en entenderme y conocerme, que yo soy Jehová, que hago misericordia, juicio y justicia en la tierra; porque estas cosas quiero, dice Jehová” Jeremías 9:23, 24

Este es el único verso de la Biblia, que tengo en mi escritorio y el que leo todos los días. Esto es todo lo que necesitamos, y es para mi lo mas importante en la vida.

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN LIFE

To start my blog I want to start with the most important: TO KNOW GOD. Human society is focused on general knowledge; today there are more people studying than for decades ago. Did you know that more new information has been produced in the last thirty years than in the last five thousand? Today we have every type of tool to learn what we desire, but each year there a less people interested in knowing more of God. Any other topic is more interesting to them: how wrong they are. 

If we know more about God, we will know more about ourselves, we will know more about those around us, and we will better understand and accept life. We will better understand our past, we will better enjoy our present, and we wait for our future with enthusiastic anticipation. Everything will be better in our life, everything will suddenly make sense if we know more about God. 

But two things are missing: The intention to know him and a plan of growth in His knowledge. In such a hectic world and a life that everyday becomes more complex, we need to strengthen the will to achieve and of course nothing is possible without a plan. In this case the plan is designed with this objective: TO KNOW GOD

You are not going to know God reading classic literature, or on TV or in the movie theatre, or un a good motivational literature, nor in the latest book of a trendy author. The only book where you can find God and know more about him is in His Word, The Bible. 

God wants you to know him, he longs to be known by you: This is what the Lord says:
“Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches, but let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,”
declares the Lord. Jeremiah 9:23,24

This is the only Bible verse that I have on my desk and that I read every day. It is all that we need, and to me, is the most important thing of life.
